The full program you install on your Windows PC. It marks passages in your draft, explains why in plain words, and helps you revise in your own words. It never writes a sentence for you. It runs offline and nothing you write leaves your computer.
Not a detector. This is not an AI-detection tool and not a "beat the detector" tool. It does not certify who wrote anything. Every mark is a prompt to look again, and you decide what stays.
Both contain everything the program needs. The zip also has a README.txt with these steps.
Install
Download WritingIntegrityStudio-Setup-0.2.0.exe and double-click it.
Windows SmartScreen will probably say it protected your PC, because the installer is not code-signed. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Click through the installer. It installs for your Windows account only and needs no administrator rights. A desktop shortcut is optional.
Start it from the Start menu.
Updating: run the newer installer over the old copy. Your projects stay. Removing: Windows Settings, Apps, Writing Integrity Studio, Uninstall. Uninstalling removes only the program files. Your projects, backups and recovery copies are in your own folders and are never touched.
Portable copy instead
Right-click the zip, choose Extract All, and extract the whole zip (do not run it from inside the zip viewer). Open the WritingIntegrityStudio folder and double-click WritingIntegrityStudio.exe. If SmartScreen warns, click More info, then Run anyway. If Windows blocks the extracted files, open PowerShell in that folder and run Get-ChildItem -Recurse | Unblock-File.
What it adds over the browser version
Opens and saves Word (.docx) files, and exports a revised copy that changes only the paragraphs you edited.
Projects saved in a database on your computer, with backup, verify and restore. Crash recovery of your last draft.
Practice mode with four support levels, a three-step hint ladder and fourteen short modules.
A built-in Help Center and keyboard reference.
Optional and switchable
Every rule can be switched off. A genre setting (general, academic, fiction) changes which rules run.
Rules with a number to tune have a Configure button, with a reset to the genre default.
My style guide: your own words and habits to avoid. Off until you turn it on. The word list is yours to edit.
Rhetoric checks: an optional pack, off by default, that starts with a name-calling check. Quoted words are skipped.
What it needs
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, and about 350 MB of disk space.
Nothing else. No account, no internet connection, nothing uploaded.
Good to know in this beta
It is a coach, not a grader. Practice scores are labeled as estimates, and logical support is never scored.
Some marks will be wrong. Each mark lists when it is a false alarm, and you can dismiss it or mark it intentional.
Built and tested by Jeff A. Pierson on Windows 11. Screen readers have not been tested yet.
The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows asks before running it the first time.
