SoundStudio for Android
This build is older than the website
The APK was built in April and carries the SoundStudio of that time. The website version has moved well past it since: tracks, volume pins, the pitch line, the parametric EQ, the live mixer, touch dragging and more are not in the APK.
For the current version on a phone, open SoundStudio in Chrome and tap Install in the Files tab (or Add to Home screen in the Chrome menu). It installs as an app, works offline after the first visit, and updates itself. Use the APK when you want a copy that never changes or a phone that can't reach the site.
Install the APK
- On the phone, tap Download the APK above.
- Open the downloaded file from the notification or from Files > Downloads.
- Android will say the browser isn't allowed to install apps. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
- Tap Install. Play Protect may warn that the app is unknown; tap More details, then Install anyway.
- Open SoundStudio from the app drawer.
It isn't in the Play Store, which is why Android asks. It is a debug-signed build, so to update it later you may need to uninstall it first. Uninstalling removes any audio saved inside the app, so export what you want to keep before you do.
What it does
- Opens audio from the phone's storage and other apps, including the audio out of a video file.
- Records from the phone's microphone.
- Waveform editing, effects and export to WAV and MP3, all on the device.
- Nothing is uploaded. The editor runs inside the app.
