CaptureDesk for Windows 1.1.0
Jeff A. Pierson · jeffapierson.com/journal_tools/capturedesk-app/

One file, no installer, no Python. CaptureDesk.exe runs a small private server on your own computer
(http://127.0.0.1:8765/) and opens it in your browser. Nothing leaves your computer except the calls
you choose to make to Anthropic (summaries), Deepgram or OpenAI (transcripts).

Install
1. Make a folder, for example C:\CaptureDesk, and put CaptureDesk.exe in it.
2. Double-click CaptureDesk.exe. If Windows SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click
"More info", then "Run anyway". (The exe is not code-signed.)
3. Your browser opens to CaptureDesk. A small window stays open, minimized; close it to stop CaptureDesk.
4. Open Settings and paste your Anthropic key (needed for summaries and keywords). Deepgram or OpenAI
keys are optional, for audio and video transcripts.
5. Optional: right-click CaptureDesk.exe, Send to, Desktop (create shortcut).

Where things are kept
- Settings: %APPDATA%\CaptureDesk\config.json (or config.json next to the exe, if you put one there).
- Captures: Documents\CaptureDesk by default. Change it on the Settings page.
The folder layout is the same as the web app and version 1.0.0, so you can point 1.1.0 at an existing archive.

Needs
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome for page screenshots (Edge ships with Windows). Without one, pages
are still saved as text, just without the screenshot.
- Optional: ffmpeg on PATH for video thumbnails and long audio.
